No matter what one says, contesting is the best way to build your operating skills, code speed, as well as QSL counts for the myriad of amateur radio awards and certificates.
I've listed the various contest I have had the honor of receiving recognition for. While in the past the station here was modest and the current station even more so, it does not dimiish the desire. Unlike other hobbies where the feeling is if you can't run with the big dogs then stay on the porch, contesting let's you (actually encourages you through QRP) to take your station on the airwaves with the big dogs of the contesting World.
Since I have been inactive so long the awards listed here are a little dated but this to will change as the ham radio station is rebuilt, the rusty operating skills brought up to speed and once again the chase is on.
The three awards I current have are 3rd Place IARU, Fourth Place IARU and a surprise certificate from CQ Magazine for their Inaugural VHF Contest.
