Hurricane Frances Pictures

Photo copyright International Space Station

These are movies taken at the front and back of my QTH, we were not hit nearly as hard as those south of us but they show the damage to the VHF antenna system as well as the 2-element quad.

Short slide show of various pictures around Florida from Hurricane Frances. [link]

Here is a link to a PowerPoint file of Hurricane Charley images. [link]

All the movies are in AVI format so you may use whatever video program you prefer to view them. These files are somewhat large, they run from 2+ megs to 8.9 megs in size, so you might experience long downloads if you are on a dial-up connection. It might pay to right click on the links and 'Save Target' to put the file on your hard drive before you view it.

Pictures of the VHF and HF antenna after the storm was 'over', the quad had several of the wires broken either by wind or flying debris while the two Cushcraft antenna had the worse of it due to the low mounting and the neighbor's tree.

Some of the heavy rains we received from Frances. [link]

More video of the rain. [link]

This shot shows the squall from Frances damaging what was left of the Cushcraft antennas after Hurricane Charley was done with them. [link]

This shot is of the HF quad from the back door, the ending shows what happens when the door you are standing next to is blown into you by the high winds from Frances. [link]

Another attempt at a movies of the quad but wind and rain prevented a good clear shot. [link]

Trying to get a better shot of the quad but Frances wasn't cooperating very much as the wind kept blowing the door into me. [link]

A little better shot of the quad and the tower the VHF system is on, notice the rushing of the wind and the rain pouring into the doorway. [link]

The Cushcraft getting more abuse from Frances. [link]

Hurricane Jeanne

Movie one is a bit dark as it was taken when Jeanne first arrived that  night. [link

]

Movies of the pine trees while Jeanne was visiting us, these were shot with the camera on its side so the trees would be shown in their entirety. [link]   [link]
